Mr. Joseph M, 67, resides at the Chelsea Soldier’s Home. He started experiencing pain in his left knee about one year ago, and had arthroscopic knee surgery which was unsuccessful. His doctor encouraged him to proceed with a total knee replacement. Joseph was reluctant to have the surgery until two months ago when the pain was so bad he was unable to walk. While visiting a friend at Hammersmith House, he "was impressed with the service he received and the progress he made. I knew this is where I wanted to go after surgery.” So he did. “The personalities are great and uplifting, and the food is good,” he said. "I basically came to Hammersmith in a wheelchair, and I am leaving using a cane, I can’t believe it!” He may need surgery on this other knee, and if he does, "I can tell you one thing -- I will definitely be back to Hammersmith House for rehabilitation if I do. I give Hammersmith House and A+ all around for its care.”
